Mary Zilba Files Defense Against Jody Claman
Following a lawsuit from her Real Housewives of Vancouver cast-mate Jody Claman, Mary Zilba has filed a defense.
The original lawsuit from Jody Claman and her daughter Mia Deakin/Claman claims that Mary made comments to defame Mia by suggesting she hung out with gangsters. In her defense Mary Zilba rejected Claman's accusation that she had made defamatory comments. The defense also went on to add that if the court was to find Zilba’s comments were defamatory, they were either true or should be considered fair comment.
The lawsuit filed against Mary came in the aftermath of the June shooting of Mia Claman. Mia was shoot on June 12 in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting The intended target was actually Mia's alleged boyfriend and gang-member Jeffrey Chang, but somehow Mia was hit instead.
Following the shooting, Mary spoke to CBC where she discussed her thoughts on Mia's shooting. The interview caught the eyes of the Claman's and they filed a lawsuit the next day.

It's Officially: Jody Claman's Broke
Since season one of the Real Housewives of Vancouver, we've speculated that Jody's life story was a tall tale. The $40,000 a day muffin business, real Birkins, private jet, etc. But now we have proof!
In the midst of her divorce from Eran Friedman, BC court documents reveal that while living a lavish lifestyle of $50,000 a month in expenses, Jody doesn't have the career to fund it, and she's in debt.
Last Thursday she was asked questions about her lifestyle by her husband's lawyer in divorce court. Jody revealed that she was in debt $148,000 and had monthly expenses totaling $50,000. She said her expenses primarily consisted of three properties; one in Whistler and the other two I'm guessing to be her food and clothing stores. She said she couldn’t borrow any more against her properties, and requested $100,000 to get her catering company, Jody’s Fine Foods, which started in 1992 and closed in 2005, operating again. Jody also told the court that she hadn't made any money this year.
Some other highlights from Jody's monthly spending includes:
- $400 for transportation including public transportation (yup, Jody admitted to taking the bus)
- $1,200 on charitable donations. One of which charities Jody said she "had" to support and would rather not eat than forego donations. Ironically an animal shelter. Maybe auction off your furs lovie?
- $300 on clothing. This amount Jody said has been lower than what she would normally spend.
- $600 on restaurant meals
- $1,600 on a leased Cadillac for her daughter
- $4,000 for life insurance premiums
- $400 for cat supplies
- $1,400 on lessons and costumes
In addition to working out financial woes, the question of a psychological assessment came up. Apparently there's questions of Jody being narcissistic and aggressive (shocker).
As for the Glass House, turns out it's actually Mia's store. The shop along with royalties from the Real Housewives were what Jody claimed as her primary source of income. A lawyer claimed the Glass House was making $50,000-$60,000. However Jody said none of the money was profit and that none of the employees were making money. She also admitted the store was not open regularly- maybe a reason it's not turning a profit.

Jody Clama's Craziness Continues
Following Mia Claman's shooting last Sunday, Jody Claman's own craziness continues.
First there was a cease-and-desist letter she sent to Mary Zilba after she spoke to CBC about the incident. That was quickly followed up with a lawsuit. Then she allegedly denied Mia's father from visiting her in the hospital.
Now media outlets are revealing her strange behavior is still strong. Allegedly a reporter called her and she told them "We are not interested in your trash stories" before hanging up. The reporter called her back and she told them “Our calls are being recorded by the RCMP” and hung up again.
That's a lie. Mia's shooting is being handled at the municipal level, that's why the Vancouver Police Department is the one that is handling all this. Not the federal government/RCMP. And Canada is pretty strict about privacy laws. It's doubtful they would record these calls unless they seriously suspected gangs to be ringing her household regularly. Maybe they oughta record Mia's calls.
Mia Claman Finally Speaks Out After Shooting
Mia Claman, daughter of Real Housewives of Vancouver villian Jody Claman, has fially spoken out after being shot last Sunday. The 28-year old shop assistant took to Facebook to express her gratitude to her friends and family, as well as share a photo of her hospital-room-turned-botanical-garden. She said:
"Half of my beautiful garden!!! Thank you so much for all the support flowers food present cards and love! I feel beyond blessed and lucky to be alive!! Sometimes it takes an awful experience to realize how truly blessed we are!!! All the pain and suffering was worth it as I feel like one of the most loved girls in the world!!! Thank you to everyone who put out positive thoughts for my family and I ❤️"
Jody Claman Denies Mia's Father From Seeing Her
Following her shooting this past Sunday, Mia Claman has been visited by a wealth of friends and family except for one- her father. Apparently her father Michael Deakin, a Calgary-based developer, has been banned from seeing Mia by her mother, Jody Claman.
On Monday morning, Michael Deakin got the call from his son that his daughter Mia had been injured in an alleged gang-related shooting. He tried calling the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver General Hospital trying to get information on his daughter's condition. Neither would give him any information over the phone, so he flew out to Vancouver. There, he was denied seeing her.
He suspects Jody of having a hand in why he was not allowed to see her. The two apparently had a rocky relationship.
While he has been able to speak to Mia on the phone since, no word on whether or not he has been able to see her.
Apparently he has warned Mia and Jody about the people Mia associated herself with. He said he warned Jody several times about reeling Mia in. “I said ‘You’ve got your little girl there — she’s running with these guys. I’m not there. What are you going to do about it?’” Deakin said.
Michael Deakin has also met Mia's alleged boyfriend Jeffrey Chang. He said he appeared to be "a nice enough fellow".
He finished off saying he hopes Mia reconsiders her life choices following the incident, and decides to join him in Calgary where he has a house waiting for her.

Jody Claman Files Lawsuit Against Mary Zilba
The Real Housewives of Vancouver's Jody Claman has official filed a lawsuit against Mary Zilba for defamation. The suit follows an interview Mary gave to the CBC about her opinions on Mia Claman getting shot in an alleged gang-related shooting.
In the interview, Mary said she was not surprised by the event, and suspected Mia of keeping poor company. The remarks did not sit well with Jody and she filed the suit the day after the video was released. The lawsuit follows a cease-and-desist letter Jody sent to Mary almost as soon as the video was released.
Neither Jody, Mary, or their legal teams have been reached for comment.
PHOTOS: See Mia Claman in Hospital and Her Alleged Gangster Boyfriend
Earlier this morning, Jody Claman shared a photo of her daughter Mia in the hospital. The photo was quickly deleted but lucky 613Style.com managed to save the photo in time.
They also revealed that the man Mia was with is allegedly Jeffrey Chang, a suspected member of the Wolf Pack gang in Vancouver. It also appears as if the two are dating. A number of photos show the two on vacation together, hanging out, and even a bouquet of roses. You can see all the pictures here.
It looks like alleged gang activity runs in the family for Jeffrey Chang. He's the younger brother of Jonathan Chu-Ka Chang, an alleged gangster who was killed back in 2009 by gunfire behind a Burnaby gym when he was just 27. The murder remains unsolved.
Numerous news outlets have contacted Jody requesting an interview, but so far she hasn't responded.

Jody Claman Send Mary Zilba A Cease-and-Desist Following Mia's Shooting
Some people did think Mary Zilba should not have spoken to the media and had their opinions about what she said, but for God's sake, your child's in the hospital. How do you find time for that?
Anyway, Mary Zilba took to Facebook to share the news.
I will admit that yes, it did seem like Mary was insinuating she hangs out with the wrong crowd. But hanging out with someone who is allegedly affiliated with a gang would be considered poor company by most of us. Especially if you end up getting shot over it.
Oh Jody.

Mary Zilba Discusses Mia Claman's Shooting
Following news that RHOV's Jody Claman's daughter Mia had been shot, Mary Zilba spoke to CBC about her thoughts regarding the incident. Watch below:
Mia Claman Shot in Drive-By Shooting
Real Housewives of Vancouver star Mia Claman/Deakin- daughter of Jody Claman- has been shot following a drive-by shooting in east Vancouver. The shooting is guessed to be gang-related which raises the question of whether Mia is involved with a gang or not.
The shooting occurred around 7pm on Sunday, June 8th at a Chevron gas station on East Hastings. The suspect drove an SUV and fired multiple at Mia and a 27-year old man she was with. The unidentified companion of Mia is believed to have been the intended target. He was treated for minor injuries to his hand while Mia's appear to be more serious. She is however in stable condition at Vancouver General Hospital.

A List of Jody Claman's Husbands....So Far
Now that Jody is free and single to mingle following her recent divorce, who knows, maybe she'll reel in husband #4. Yup, she's been married thrice. Here's the list:
Husband #1: Michael Deakin
- they were married quiet young. Around 21 I'm guessing
- this is Mia's father. She was 4 when her parents divorced
- of the marriage, Jody says she was young and it was a mistake
- the marriage ended in 1990 with Michael filing
Husband #2: Robert Samways
- owns A Salon, a boutique hair salon in Vancouver
- this one's Josh's father
- they divorced in 2001
- this marriage kinda puts a hole in her story that she was a single mother for 25 years
Husband #3: Eran Friedlander
- president of a mining company. Allegedly makes $213,000 a year
- they divorced last year
- he and Jody had Hannah together
Jody Claman; Beauty Queen Without a Finishing School
In an effort to assert how much better she is than Mary, I think we all remember Jody yelling that she had been to a finishing school in Switzerland. Not the case, as instead of learning all the polishings of a young lady, she was a BEAUTY QUEEN!
Yup, apparently the Queen of Mean tried her hand at the pageant life. On Wednesday February 11th, 1981 she was declared runner-up of the Miss Teen Vancouver pageant. The then 17-year old and grade 11 student apparently hails from Lower Nicola, a small rural community outside of Merit, BC.
The story goes that a modelling agency advised Jodes to submit photos of herself to the contest. She was then chosen out out hundreds of applicants to compete with 10 other girls. The competition consisted of modelling one casual outfit and an evening gown for the judges, and telling the judges about themselves, detailing their hobbies and career aspirations.
Anyway, there's no way Jody was be at a finishing school in Switzerland as she was in British Columbia competing in pageants. I hope she doesn't expect us to believe she flew out to BC in the middle of the school year on a school night to do a pageant.

Follow-Up on Jody v. @amandahansenfans
A week or two ago, Jody tweeted that Twitter fan page @amandahansenfans would be hearing from her lawyers following a slew of defamatory comments. We all shared a good laugh, but somewhere, Amanda Hansen's #1 fan is dealing with a very heavy lawsuit from the Queen of Mean.
Just kidding. The fan page is back up and running after it was down for several days, and they have assured me no one has phones, emailed, or tweeted anything legal. I imagine Jody was surprised to find out real estate lawyers cannot sue a twitter page for personal opinions. #shocking

Is Season 3 of the Real Housewives of Vancouver Being Filmed?
Now before you go losing your pants, I want to make clear that nothing is official, I just heard an interesting bit of information that is certainly eye-brow raising.
Allegedly, Mary Zilba, Ronnie Negus, Jody Claman, and Mashiah Vaughn (you saw her a few times on season 2) are all going to be the UK together. Ronnie is already there, Mary tweeted a fan that she would soon be going, Mashiah has London listed as one of her frequented destinations, and I can't tell if/when Jody's going because she blocked me on Twitter for a defamatory comment. What makes this interesting is that according to a tweet by Ronnie, Mary and Mashiah had a falling out. And I don't think I need to explain why Mary and Jody going is odd. Why would 4 women- three of whom don't like each other- be going to the UK together at the same time?

Mary and Mashiah |
Also, with countries like Australia, the UK, and Sweden watching the show in large numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if whoever's in charge of the show started getting their act together and realized the demand for another season of the Real Housewives of Vancouver is growing. And don't forget- the show is filmed in the late summer and early autumn which is HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
OMG the more I type this out, the more I think that this could actually be happening. I really hope so. I miss tweeting mean things to Jody on Tuesday nights.

Was Jody's Behaviour Why Eran Friedland Divorced Her?
![]() |
Jody Claman and Eran Friedland |
Allegedly, Eran was becoming more and more embarrassed of Jody. He was supposed to be a part of season one, but after seeing clips of the show, and how erratic Jody was behaving, he backed out. And since he hadn't signed a contract yet, the show was forced to cut his scenes.
Jody has quite a history of odd behavior. Not just on the show, but in and around Vancouver. British Columbia court records show she was sued various people and companies 16 times. And members of an elite sports club in the Vancouver area which Jody is a member of, say she is often loud, obnoxious, and wear her sunglasses indoors even in the winter.
Her daughter Mia could also be a source of tension in the Claman-Friedland household. Mia also indulges in the same behavior at the sports club as her mother, and has a bad reputation around Vancouver for excessive partying, drug abuse, and promiscuity.

Jody Claman's Store Vandalized
![]() |
"Hello? Police? Yes, I'd like to report a fashion crime. Also, my store's been vandalized." |
The Real Housewives of Vancouver's Jody Claman's store was recently vandalized. Claman was in Los Angeles when she got a call telling her the letters "ALF" had been sprayed across her storefront. The initials are believed to stand for the Animal Liberation Front. The ALF is an animal welfare group that aims to curb animal cruelty The vandals also allegedly released a chemical bomb onto the property which prompted a HAZMAT team to investigate. No threat was found.
Of course Claman was quick to blame Mary. Maybe she's forgotten that the Real Housewives of Vancouver brings in 1.2 million views who can all see she wears fur. It was only a matter of time before an animal welfare group did something. However, Claman claims that her store only sells second-hand (oh no, sorry, vintage) furs, and ethically killed animal pelts. She says that she does not believe in killing innocent animals exclusively for their fur.

Inside the Premiere Party!
Last Tuesday was the season 2 premiere of The Real Housewives of Vancouver. The 'wives (Ioulia Reynolds, Jody Claman, Mary Zilba, Amanda Hansen, Ronnie Negus and Robin Reichman) along with the producers, friends and family celebrated the launch of season at the Loden Hotel downtown Vancouver.
Nice to see the girls all celebrating happily together. I admire them for letting us into their lives, I cant even imagine how hard it must be at times to be in the public eye and having a lot of your life filmed.
Big thank you to Catharine Barr for the the behind the scenes scoop!

New Faces & Old Wounds
Its finally here! The long anticipated Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Vancouver aired February 5th!
This episode started and ended off as a real tearjerker. It
mostly focused on the roller-coaster whirlwind of a year that Ronnie Negus and her
family has gone through since we last saw her. When people go through rough
situations such as these, they tend to close up, Ronnie did the complete
opposite, she let the audience into her personal life by sharing how she almost
lost her daughter Remington. Ronnie mentions that her daughter has taught her
so much about life and has a new outlook. She invited all those that prayed for
her daughter and helped save her life (and the 3 new housewives) to her
beautiful Oceanside home for a BBQ. Remy herself, thanked everyone and was very
social ---I love how polite and outgoing she is, I want to be her friend!
When Remy and Ronnie are thanking everyone that was there
for them, sweet Remy asked Mary Zilba to sing for her. At first, Mary was hesitant at
first but couldn’t resist Remy saying something along the lines of “Please
you’re my Godmom” ---insert tears and us all saying awwww---. Mary looked right
into Remingtons eyes has she sang to her latest hit song “Hero” which was meant
for people who have over come tough battles in life.
We ended last season with Ronnie stating that she never
wishes to speak to Jody Claman again. However, Jody was there for her and helped her
though her tough time. We all know about her store “The Glass House”, and her
love for fashion and cooking. Materialistic things aside, it was a nice change
to hear that she was there for Ronnie, and helped her though it. With the drama
that is often highlighted between her and Mary, this episode, we were finally
able to see the kind loving side of her… just wish it wasn’t under such crummy
circumstances.
Jodys daughter Mia asks her to have a meeting with her
friend Amanda Hansenfor some business advice. At first I was a little skeptical as was
Jody that they might have gotten off on the wrong foot, yet when Amanda opened
up about her struggles with sobriety Jody comforted her and was very supportive
of her progress. Again, another example of a softer side of Jody!
Loved seeing each of the ladies more caring moments, good balance from all the drama and nice for us to see their true selves. This episode stood out to me for that reason, because it was based on celebrating Remingtons life. Good environment. However, something tells me this kind and politeness wont keep up for long!
Be sure to check out episode 2 this Tuesday February 12 at 10pm only on Slice!
