Mary Zilba Files Defense Against Jody Claman

Following a lawsuit from her Real Housewives of Vancouver cast-mate Jody Claman, Mary Zilba has filed a defense.

The original lawsuit from Jody Claman and her daughter Mia Deakin/Claman claims that Mary made comments to defame Mia by suggesting she hung out with gangsters. In her defense Mary Zilba rejected Claman's accusation that she had made defamatory comments. The defense also went on to add that if the court was to find Zilba’s comments were defamatory, they were either true or should be considered fair comment.

The lawsuit filed against Mary came in the aftermath of the June shooting of Mia Claman. Mia was shoot on June 12 in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting The intended target was actually Mia's alleged boyfriend and gang-member Jeffrey Chang, but somehow Mia was hit instead.

Following the shooting, Mary spoke to CBC where she discussed her thoughts on Mia's shooting. The interview caught the eyes of the Claman's and they filed a lawsuit the next day.

Has Mary Zilba's Ex Moved On?

In season 2 of the Real Housewives of Vancouver, we witnessed Mary Zilba embark on a date with sleazy-looking entrepreneur Brett Wilson. The date consisted of him shamelessly self-promoting, but nevertheless the two seemed to hit it off and dated for some time before breaking up.

Now it looks as if Brett Wilson has moved onto Toronto blogger Lisa Charleyboy. She posted photos to her Instagram account of the two hanging out captioning one photo "I had the most handsome date last night for the #CCABYYC gala ..."

In another photo, the pair appear to be pretty close.

Lisa appears to be around 30 while Brett is 56. Defiantly Real Housewives material right there.

Mary Zilba Receives Second Lawsuit

The Real Housewives of Vancouver's Mary Zilba has been slapped with another lawsuit. This time the issue is about cocktails promoted on the still-on-hiatus RHOV. The lawsuit demands Mary to stop promoting a cocktail called "Cocktails by Mary". The lawsuit was filed by TML Venture Inc. a company which Mary is allegedly a shareholder of. The company says that by promoting the Cocktails by Mary, she is violating a shareholder's agreement that forbids promoting a competitor's product.

Mary was contacted by The Province, who originally obtained the documents citing the lawsuit. She said that there was not a real story and that she was simply contacted by a "brand guy" for a "branding exercise".

"There’s nothing to that. It’s fictional. I’m not doing another drink, so there’s no issue.”  she said.

This is the second lawsuit Mary has been faced with within a week. The first one was filed by former co-star Jody Claman who says Mary defamed her family when she spoke to CBC about Mia Claman's shooting.

Jody Clama's Craziness Continues

Following Mia Claman's shooting last Sunday, Jody Claman's own craziness continues.

First there was a cease-and-desist letter she sent to Mary Zilba after she spoke to CBC about the incident. That was quickly followed up with a lawsuit. Then she allegedly denied Mia's father from visiting her in the hospital.

Now media outlets are revealing her strange behavior is still strong. Allegedly a reporter called her and she told them "We are not interested in your trash stories" before hanging up. The reporter called her back and she told them “Our calls are being recorded by the RCMP” and hung up again.

That's a lie. Mia's shooting is being handled at the municipal level, that's why the Vancouver Police Department is the one that is handling all this. Not the federal government/RCMP. And Canada is pretty strict about privacy laws. It's doubtful they would record these calls unless they seriously suspected gangs to be ringing her household regularly. Maybe they oughta record Mia's calls.

Jody Claman Files Lawsuit Against Mary Zilba

The Real Housewives of Vancouver's Jody Claman has official filed a lawsuit against Mary Zilba for defamation. The suit follows an interview Mary gave to the CBC about her opinions on Mia Claman getting shot in an alleged gang-related shooting.

In the interview, Mary said she was not surprised by the event, and suspected Mia of keeping poor company. The remarks did not sit well with Jody and she filed the suit the day after the video was released. The lawsuit follows a cease-and-desist letter Jody sent to Mary almost as soon as the video was released.

Neither Jody, Mary, or their legal teams have been reached for comment.

Mary Zilba's Son Speaks to CBC About Yaletown Shooting

Following Mary Zilba speaking to CBC about Mia Claman being shot, her son spoke to CBC about a shooting that occurred in Yaletown yesterday.

I'm starting to think she has CBC on speed dial.

Anyway, here's the video of her son recounting what he saw to CBC

Jody Claman Send Mary Zilba A Cease-and-Desist Following Mia's Shooting

Jody Claman has sent Mary Zilba a cease-and-desist following Mia Deakin-Claman's shooting. After hearing about Mia's attack, Mary sent her well-wishes and spoke to CBC about her thoughts regarding the incident which prompted Jody Claman to send her the letter.

Some people did think Mary Zilba should not have spoken to the media and had their opinions about what she said, but for God's sake, your child's in the hospital. How do you find time for that?

Anyway, Mary Zilba took to Facebook to share the news.

I will admit that yes, it did seem like Mary was insinuating she hangs out with the wrong crowd. But hanging out with someone who is allegedly affiliated with a gang would be considered poor company by most of us. Especially if you end up getting shot over it.

Oh Jody.

Mary Zilba Gets a New Car!

With a new cosmetics line, a number one hit in the UK, and a recent trip to sing at the Vatican, what better way to celebrate than with a new car?

The singer recently treated herself to a new white Tesla. The car retails anywhere from $65,000 to $85,000 in Canada.

She captioned the photo with: "You'll never see at the gas pump again I'm in love with my new car! So excited no emissions and 100% green. Tesla what an amazing vehicle. #GoElectric"

Mary Zilba Preforms at the Vatican

Seems like the wives are keeping busy while the Real Housewives of Vancouver stays on hold.

Recording artist Mary Zilba, recently preformed in the Vatican in the Sistine Chapel.

While some are claiming she is the first soloist to preform, a Google search reveals there have been other soloists before her. And a discussion with my sister informed me there was also a soloist when she went to the Vatican.

Nevertheless, it's a big honor for her!

More on Mary's Billionaire Boyfriend

Mary's starting to get back into the dating game, and what better way to play than with a billionaire? After visiting a match-making service, Mary went on a date with W. Brett Wilson during season 2 of the Real Housewives of Vancouver. Their romance has been documented on a number of blogs since the fall of last year. They've been seen at fashion shows, Canucks games, and a fundraising event on a cruise. The pair are no longer together I suppose as Wilson told the Calgary Herald this past spring that he is single.

Ah well, Mary can do better. The man obviously has poor taste. Not only did he heavily indulge in some self-promotion on their date, in addition to taking in Mary's scenic mountain view (if ya know what I mean), but he has also tweeted that the Real Housewives of Vancouver made him fall asleep. #loser Perhaps someone of equally poor taste like Jody would've been better.

Mr. W. Brett Wilson is really a billionaire. His net worth is an estimated $1.5 billion. Impressive considering he's from North Battleford, Saskatchewan- a town of 14,000 people in Canada's most desolate province. His fortune comes primarily from investment banking, an investment banking advisory firm, and a Canadian stock brokerage firm. He also owns part of the Nashville Predators, writes a column for the National Post, has appeared on Dragon's Den, and is currently working on his own show called Risky Business.

And this is what we call gross

Mary Zilba's Song Reaches #1 in the UK

We all remember Mary Zilba's song "Hero" from season 1. We got to watch her write it, record it, and promote it. And you probably sang it to yourself in the shower or car. Well prepare to hear it in Land Rover's and Jags all over the wrong side of the road across the pond- "Hero" officially became the #1 song on the iTunes charts in the UK.

The pop star tweeted a photo of proof, along side numerous congratulations. She even beat out American pop princess Taylor Swift!

If you haven't seen it already, here's the music video for "Hero":

Is Season 3 of the Real Housewives of Vancouver Being Filmed?

Now before you go losing your pants, I want to make clear that nothing is official, I just heard an interesting bit of information that is certainly eye-brow raising.

Allegedly, Mary Zilba, Ronnie Negus, Jody Claman, and Mashiah Vaughn (you saw her a few times on season 2) are all going to be the UK together. Ronnie is already there, Mary tweeted a fan that she would soon be going, Mashiah has London listed as one of her frequented destinations, and I can't tell if/when Jody's going because she blocked me on Twitter for a defamatory comment. What makes this interesting is that according to a tweet by Ronnie, Mary and Mashiah had a falling out. And I don't think I need to explain why Mary and Jody going is odd. Why would 4 women- three of whom don't like each other- be going to the UK together at the same time?

Mary and Mashiah
Furthermore, Mashiah's Twitter page is down. I wonder if it's to kinda keep her out of the picture until they announce season 3 something happens. I know from post-season 1, a lot of tidbits and clues about what to expect for season 2 were dropped on Twitter by various housewives. Maybe they're keeping a tighter wrap on things.

Also, with countries like Australia, the UK, and Sweden watching the show in large numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if whoever's in charge of the show started getting their act together and realized the demand for another season of the Real Housewives of Vancouver is growing. And don't forget- the show is filmed in the late summer and early autumn which is HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

OMG the more I type this out, the more I think that this could actually be happening. I really hope so. I miss tweeting mean things to Jody on Tuesday nights.

Inside the Premiere Party!

Last Tuesday was the season 2 premiere of The Real Housewives of Vancouver.  The 'wives (Ioulia Reynolds, Jody Claman, Mary Zilba, Amanda Hansen, Ronnie Negus and Robin Reichman) along with the producers, friends and family celebrated the launch of season at the Loden Hotel downtown Vancouver.

Nice to see the girls all celebrating happily together. I admire them for letting us into their lives, I cant even imagine how hard it must be at times to be in the public eye and having a lot of your life filmed.

Big thank you to Catharine Barr for the the behind the scenes scoop!

New Faces & Old Wounds

Its finally here! The long anticipated Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Vancouver aired February 5th!

This episode started and ended off as a real tearjerker. It mostly focused on the roller-coaster whirlwind of a year that Ronnie Negus and her family has gone through since we last saw her. When people go through rough situations such as these, they tend to close up, Ronnie did the complete opposite, she let the audience into her personal life by sharing how she almost lost her daughter Remington. Ronnie mentions that her daughter has taught her so much about life and has a new outlook. She invited all those that prayed for her daughter and helped save her life (and the 3 new housewives) to her beautiful Oceanside home for a BBQ. Remy herself, thanked everyone and was very social ---I love how polite and outgoing she is, I want to be her friend!

When Remy and Ronnie are thanking everyone that was there for them, sweet Remy asked Mary Zilba to sing for her. At first, Mary was hesitant at first but couldn’t resist Remy saying something along the lines of “Please you’re my Godmom” ---insert tears and us all saying awwww---. Mary looked right into Remingtons eyes has she sang to her latest hit song “Hero” which was meant for people who have over come tough battles in life.

We ended last season with Ronnie stating that she never wishes to speak to Jody Claman again. However, Jody was there for her and helped her though her tough time. We all know about her store “The Glass House”, and her love for fashion and cooking. Materialistic things aside, it was a nice change to hear that she was there for Ronnie, and helped her though it. With the drama that is often highlighted between her and Mary, this episode, we were finally able to see the kind loving side of her… just wish it wasn’t under such crummy circumstances.

Jodys daughter Mia asks her to have a meeting with her friend Amanda Hansenfor some business advice. At first I was a little skeptical as was Jody that they might have gotten off on the wrong foot, yet when Amanda opened up about her struggles with sobriety Jody comforted her and was very supportive of her progress. Again, another example of a softer side of Jody!

Loved seeing each of the ladies more caring moments, good balance from all the drama and nice for us to see their true selves. This episode stood out to me for that reason, because it was based on celebrating Remingtons life. Good environment. However, something tells me this kind and politeness wont keep up for long!

Be sure to check out episode 2 this Tuesday February 12 at 10pm only on Slice!
